What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Chest Pain For Father And Son?

My son and i have had these symptoms for about two weeks: shortness of breath, chest pain, fatigue, weakness, spells of red face. Our xrays are clear, hearts normal, oxygen level normal, no fever, and only a small cough. We have both took a round of steroids, breathing treatments and inhalers with no relief. What are are doctors missing? Please help us!

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

Here you both should consult physician first for respiratory examination...
Your x ray normal so no major organic cause present....

You could here have asthma , bronchitis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ...
For that pulmonary function test useful.
If it comes for bronchoconstriction you might need bronchodilator and nebulization.

Second to rule out cardiac causes ECG or echo done....

If above both respi and cardiac cause not present then psychiatric causes ruled out.
Like excess stress can lead it....

If still it not present it might be simple musculoskeletal pain...

Here you have to search for cause in this manner as it doesn't seem single conclusive diagnosis from history.

Take care
