What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Chest Discomfort?

first of all I am 5 9 279, I am obese but on rare occasion feel I can t breathe, feels like flem in my chest and I start feeling like I cannot breathe correctly. I went thru this 2hrs ago and I feel a bit better could it just be an anxiety attack due to my weight condition?

Good afternoon. First of all i would like to know about your age and gender or any other medical condition if you have. Your bmi is 41, which is quite high.
If you are male of any age or female age more than 50 year, then you should be evaluated for heart disease. The nature of your pain is not cardiac but just to be on safe side. Sometimes, the pain can be due to gastric problem. I would like you to undergo several blood tests.
1) Fasting blood sugar
2) Fasting lipid profile
In addition, you should try to lose weight slowly, not push too hard on yourself but do some exercises daily and try to eat healthy food. Cut off all sugar, hidden sugars especially and junk food. You can take advice from a dietician. Losing weight will help you to feel more healthy, release your anxiety and you will be protected from more health problems in the future. Hope this will help you.
