What Causes Shivering And Swelling In The Calf?
Concern of my 66 yr old while male partner. He has had stents and CABG, high blood pressure, peripheral neuropathy of unknown etiology. Tonight in 54 degree weather he started shivering with a few steps taken outside. Currently his BP is 117/67, Pulse 114, Sat 99, temp oral 100.6, Breath sounds clear and equal. His right ankle and calf are more swollen and he complains of severe pain in the shin area; no bruising or localized redness. He has had a sore throat and drippy nose in last few days. ER visit?

Based on the history you have shared, it favors more towards local infection or inflammation called as cellulitis however possibility of venous thrombosis needs to be ruled out.
Doppler ultrasound is a must, and should be done to rule out any blocked vein so that thrombolytic therapy can be started.
