What Causes Shin Discomfort While Suffering From Peripheral Arterial Disease?

My 85 yr old mom has PAD more severe in right leg than left-last week she experienced pangs on her shin on this right leg..which subsided after she used a lanocain (?) patch on the shin....she still walks about 4 days a week-but also banged this leg badly a little over a year ago trying to help her husband at that time... we looked up issues as we were concerned with blood clot etc....is this normal part of loosing circulation?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to the poor blood supply to the feet.

Consult a vascular surgeon and get evaluated.

You might improve with drugs like cilostazol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
