What Causes Sharp Stabbing Pain In The Scalp?

For approx. 1 week, I have had a extreme sharp pain run from top of ear/scalp area up towards top of head. Fells like rubber band snap to the side of my head, will make me flinch. This pain is not all of the time. When it does subside, my scalp is sore like it was hit. Any ideas??????????????????

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You need to check your blood pressure first to rule out hypertension. The ear infection, teeth infection, sinusitis if present then let me know about that because it can cause a referred headache.

If you are having associated nausea, intolerance to bright light than migraine can be possible.

According to the cause-specific treatment given. You can Consult a nearby physician for detailed evaluation. Meanwhile, you can take Paracetamol sos for headache.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
