What Causes Sharp Right Sided Abdominal Pain?

I started to have sharp pains on the right side of my abdomen, I just exercised (biking for 1/2 hour, not gruelng. BUT I have IBS-C so I took a hyoscamine(SP?) and the pain is lessening. I was afraid it was appendicitis. THere is NO nausea, vomitting or diarrhea. I just thought the symptoms were weird. Or gas. I m also lactose intolerant. I just wanted to make sure it s not appendicitis. The pain is definitely dulling.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Based on your symptoms, it could be a colic. I would like to rule out kidney stones too.
It is unlikely to be Appendicitis as you had no fever, vomiting.

I recommend :
-observe your pain. If it recurs in the same spot with the same or more intensity, you should see your doctor for a scan of the abdomen and blood tests

-drink plenty of water.

-monitor the way you exercise and make you don't get dehydrated. Avoid exercising within 2 hour of meal time.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
