What Causes Sharp Pains In The Lower Left Breast?

I have sudden sharp aching pain in the lower half of my left breast. My left breast is also, I say, significantly bigger. It doesn t happen too often. But enough to make me notice. Its happened a few times in the past few months. When it does the pain is very sharp. It lasts a few seconds then goes away followed by more numb pain, the resides altogether. It doesn t happen around the time of my period either. Just radomly. Is this serious or common?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be a part of cyclical mastalgia developing due to hormonal changes. As a first line management you can take analgesics like Mefenemic acid for pain relief. If symptoms persist you can consult a general surgeon and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
