What causes sharp pain in the pelvic area?

Hello, I am a female, 53 years old. I had a total hysterectomy 5 years ago. Now I have sharp pain (like a knife or needles being pricked in this area) in the pelvic area. It hurts more when I hold my urine before going to the restroom. I already visited my doctor. She tested my urine, and I don t have UTI. What can I do to relieve my pain.

Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. The excruciating pain in pelvis while holding urine. In absence of any infection, can be due to muscle spasm of the muscles of urethral meatus & urinary bladder. This is possible due to involvement of -bladder having stone entrapped in cavity & pressing over the meatus while holding urine forcefully. - Problems of lower lumber or upper sachral vertebral or disc problem. Causing compression on nerve supplying the regions. You need investigations in this directions (MRI).

Thank you for contacting us. Hope this clarifies your concerns.

Take care

I m a 35 yr-old female, I have a sharp pain in the right pelvic area, the pain comes every few minutes....lasts less than a minute then goes away...keeps repeating. This has been going on for a few hours now. No problems with bowel movements...but my urine was a bright yellow today. Not on period.

I have a sharp pain in lower abdomen, pelvic area which started 2 days ago. No noticeable lump felt. When I stand up to walk, only pressing on that area helps the pain. I stretched to reach something this morning and felt like someone had stabbed me. YYYY@YYYY

I have had severe sharp pains in my lower right groin. I am a female. My leg feels very heavy and the right side of by stomach (below appendics scar) is very swollen. There is continuous bubbling above this area. It gets worse with standing and goes from a dull ache to a sharp burning stab. I am awaiting a pelvic scan. Could this be a hernia?
