Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
96 year old lady in fairly health otherwise. Lives with husband independently but with some help. Has fairly sharp continuos pain in her lower right abdomens (6 or 7 on a scale of 10 worst). It s not worse when touched. Pain started about 5 hrs ago and has not diminished.
Kindly mention the nature of pain whether it is constricting or dull aching pain. It can be appendicitis or diverticulitis like condition. For that USG (Ultrasonography) abdomen scan should be done.
For diverticulitis, pain killer and anti-inflammatory drug can be given along with more fiber. A Semisolid diet should be taken more, and drink lots of water.
Avoid excess spicy foods According to cause specific treatment given and consult physician for examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
