What Causes Sharp Pain In The Hand And Numbness In The Palm?

I was doing a push-up on the floor when I felt a sharp pain in my hand. I thought I d touched a sharp object on the rug. I could find nothing so continued but the pain kept happening as I pressed against the floor. Now I have numbness in my palm just below the thumb at the pad of my palm. I have had the numbness for about a week now. No signs of improvement. I was gardening yesterday and felt the sudden pain when my hand was spread open.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I have read your query in detail. According to my opinion you have a sprain of ligaments in your palm or forearm. This ligaments sprain leads to numbness and pain. Kindly consult a nearby orthopedic surgeon and take opinion if pain persists. Also, take care of not lifting heavy things with that hand because it will worsen the current situation.

Have a better health.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat
