Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to an occipital neuralgia.

What is your age?

Do you have other symptoms like chronic neck pain, difficulty with the gait, etc?

I recommend consulting with a neurologist for a careful physical examination for neurological signs and a neck X ray study (a cervical spondylarthrosis could be associated to this disorder).

A brain CT scan may be needed to exclude an intracranial lesion of the posterior part of the brain.

Meanwhile I would recommend starting therapy with indomethacine twice daily if you have no contraindications to this drug.

Other options of treatment would be gabapentine or carbamazepine.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best wishes!
