What Causes Sharp Pain At The Site Of Vitamin B12 Injection?

I had a b12 injection in my hip at 12 today and I m having severe sharp pains. I put an ice pack on it and took some ibuprofen but it still hurts really bad. I usually have a pretty high pain tolerance so this is worrying me pretty bad. What can I do?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Vitamin B 12 injection is usually associated with sharp pain at the injection site.
The pain remains for few hours after which it disappears.
Thus, you can wait for a day or two for the pain to reduce.
The pain does not disappear immediately but decreases with passage of time.
Do not put weight on the site of injection and take painkillers to relieve the pain.
In case you have to take another dose of vitamin B 12, take it on contralateral side hip and not on same side.

Thanks and take care
