Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Left knee pain, like arthritis for several year, but starting last night, experienced sharp pain in that knee that felt like electrical shock. Had stints implanted in groin area several years ago. Several months ago I had a leg vein procedure whereby blood that was flowing backwards through faulty valves was stopped by inserting a catheter and carerizing (spelling?) the vein to stop all blood flow. The procedure involved both calves; not the knee. I am 74 years old and still in very active health. I have an appointment with my PC doctor Thursday. Is there any reason I should try for a quicker appt.? Thanks for your opinion!
You should consult your doctor regarding this. He may advise you xray of both knees standing in AP view and he along with this will do your physical examination.
Only then your diagnosis can be made.
Till then apply hot packs for 30 mins in morning and evening. You can take painkillers e.g aceclofenac by discussing it with your doctor.
Avoid squatting and upstairs as much as you can.
I hope you have got your answer.
Thanks.
Dr.Singh.
