What Causes Shaken Baby Syndrome In A Child?

My grandson s head grew from 33cms to 40.64 cms from birth to one month old. It went unnoticed until he was 4 months old. Now the parents are accused of shaken baby syndrome. It is possible that a light hit to the head could cause symptoms of shaken baby sydrome?
