What Causes Severe Vomiting And Diarrhea?

I had thrown up for several hours, combined with diarrhea to the point I felt my digestive system was empty of food and waste. For several hours later I burped with the strangest sound. I also passed a great deal of gas. During this period the nausea had subsided. It is difficult to describe the almost comical sound my burps made. They sounded almost like an auto tune effect. The whole episode lasted about 24 hours, then I fully recovered. Do you think it was mild food poisoning and why the strange burps.

Severe diarrhea since 24 hours may be drug induced or infective,(gastroenteritis) but it should be treated promptly before patient go in hypovolemic shock (tachycardia, hypotension,rapid breathing, giddiness, fever etc).

Your burping sounds and gas trouble or bloating could also be related to gastro-enteritis or gastritis which needs immediate medical attention with your the treatment diarrhea.

So,you should undergo routine blood investigations and electrolytes,liver and kidney function tests,urinalysis and stool for blood,abdominal ultrasound to detect the underlying cause.

So you will require injectable antibiotics with fluid and electrolyte replacement therapy.

If you are feeling better then you can wait for some time and take symptomatic treatment meanwhile and in case if not,then you immediately consult your family physician and visit to ER.
