Hi & Welcome.
It is due to over dosage of Magnesium oxide.
The usual adult dose for 'hypomagnesemia' is 400-800 mg of Magnesium oxide given orally once a day.
Since it can also act as an 'osmotic laxative', the symptoms of severe vomiting and diarrhea, confusion, loss of motor & cognitive skills seem to be due to overdosage of this medication.
I advise you to consult your treating doctor immediately for quick assessment of dehydration and its treatment. What you need at this stage after correction of dehydration is to lower the dose of Magnesium oxide.
You should not take more than 2 tablets in a 24-hour period or use for more than 2 weeks without checking with your doctor.
Lab tests, including magnesium levels, may be performed while you use magnesium oxide. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects.
Hope the suggestions would be of great help to you.
