Hi, my name is Autumn and I am 18 years old. For the past almost year I have been experiencing random sudden sharp, stabbing like pain under my left breast, almost my abdomen. My heart beats along with this pain and I d like to know if it is serious and if I should see a Doctor ASAP.

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -:

Do a clinical examination by your Doctor [rheumatologist] and do few investigations like CBC with differential and ECG] to rule out other underlying pathological disorders.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Try Over-the-counter non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs pain relievers. Ask your doctor about using ibuprofen or naproxen sodium with PPI[Pantoprazole].

2)Apply heat or ice. Try placing hot compresses or a heating pad on the painful area several times a day. Keep the heat on a low setting. Ice also might be helpful.

3)Do take rest and try to avoid activities that make your pain worse.

4)Discuss with your physiotherapist for specific exercise plan

5)Practice sitting with a book balanced on your head.

Hope that helps
