What Causes Severe Pain In The Lower Back And Thighs?

I am having acute low back pain, started last night with restless legs and severe pain in thighs and calves. Difficulty sleeping last night because of pain. Little relief when lying down on my side. Tried some heat last night. Visiting our grandchildren, lifted my 2 year old grandson yesterday several times, but did not experience severe pain until late last night. We return home to California on Thursday. I have been having severe RLS, and just started on Gababentin. I am 69 years old and a female.

Hello,

As there looks to be nerve root entrapment in the lumbar spine leading to Restless leg issues.

Medicine will be prescribed for taking in the night time so sleep is good and the healing process of the body takes places only when a person takes sufficient good sleep.

Coming the other part, exercise needs to be performed like - core stability, spinal muscle Strengthening, hip muscle strengthening, lower limbs strengthening as a whole.

Also stretching of the calf and hamstring is advised because these muscles play a crucial role in allowing the lower back to be flexible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
