What Causes Severe Pain In The Knee?

My sons knee has been bothering him for two days. He does not remember an acute injury. It is on the medial side of his right knee. No pain at rest just when up and about. He describes his discomfort as a ruberband or a muscle stretching. I m thinking a strain of his MCL or possibly his hamstring (he has tight hamstrings) when should I take him to see the doctor? Started him on ice and Ibprophen.

what is the age of your child? my be the possibility of sprain or some other cause. best is you take him to doctor otherwise u can continue with medication. Better get some Baseline blood investigations like 1 Complete Blood count 2. serum calcium 3.Crp and at the best get an MRI of knee joint. Review with report till then give him 1.Pain killers 2.Muscle relaxant 3 Some local application of analgesics.
