What Causes Severe Pain In The Hips, Thighs And Lower Back?

Extreme hip, thigh, and lower back pain, accompanied by sever chills with uncontrollable shaking for about an hour. Pain has continued off and on and I am feeling quite fatigued. I stayed home from work yesterday because I could not stand long enough to get ready for work. I went to work today, but it took quite a bit longer than usual due to the hip and thigh pain. I also had some minor upper left chest twinges. I have spinal stenosis in the lumbar region, and the back is curved to the left. It feels like flu symptoms but I have no respiratory symptoms. Is this something I should go to my GP about? Sorry, I did not realize this was a pay for answer service.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan to rule out spine related problems like a prolapsed disc or nerve compression.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
