What Causes Severe Pain In The Elbow And Wrist?

Hello, I have had pain in my elbow , wrist area for about a month now. I did hit my funny bone prety hard about month and a half ago, I thought it may just be sore from the injury. It has now been so long, that I am scared that it may be something else. I do not have any health insurance , so I am not sure what to do, or who to contact to find out for certain what is wrong. Any ideas ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is most likely related to your injury, trauma is the most common reason for pain in the joints.

Other causes of joint or muscle pain include :(1) infection- there would be associated fever, redness, swelling, warmth
(2)cancer- uncommon, does not develop acutely
(3)benign (non cancer) mass in the bones

You can consider the use of anti inflammatory pain medication along with warm compresses.
Anti inflammatory medication would consist of ibuprofen, naproxen or cataflam. One of these should be used regularly for at least a week, if the pain stops before this time, then it can be discontinued.

Warm compresses every few hours for 15 to 20 mins.

Restrict movement of the area as much as possible.

I hope this helps
