What Causes Severe Pain In The Collarbone After A Back Injury?

My son is 26 years old and is very healthy and in great shape. He was horsing around and jumped up and has supposedly herniated 2 disc in his back and his sciatic nerve has also been affected. This injury happened 2 weeks ago and he can barely move. In a lot of pain and now his collarbone is killing him?! I m beginning to worry that this could be something far worse or does this sound in line with his diagnosis and laying around for so long?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Bulging disc will not lead to pain in collar bone. Collar bone as we call it clavicle might be injured during fall. I would like to advise X-ray of the clavicle with shoulder anteroposterior view to rule out fracture. Meanwhile apply clavicular brace with arm sling to reduce pain.Visit to orthopedic surgeon for detailed clinical Examination is recommended.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
