What causes severe pain in the back and swelling around the rib cage?

I have chronic pain throughout my entire torso front and back. I also have swollen masses in my sternum and rib cage. The pain is constant, I have severe crippling pain attacks, weakness, dizzy, I am unable to eat most foods. This has been carrying on for 13 years now. I have been hospitalized, visited the ER and countless physicians throughout the 13 years and have not gotten any results. Please help me!!!! I am confined to my bed most of my day, everyday suffering with this pain.

Hello,

You may be suffering from fibromyalgia or vitamin d deficiency or infections etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use tablet Tramadol with paracetamol twice a day for five days. Use vitamin d capsule once a week for six weeks.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,

Every time I eat I get the worse pain on my left side about 2 ribs up from the bottom of my rib cage, I was in a major car wreck years ago but had laser surgery removing my spleen, part of my intestines part of my stomach, I had a severed liver, my appendix was removed. I have been diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus, cirrhosis of the liver (non-alcoholic) Tuberculosis, Epstein Barr Disease & since have had a emergency gull bladder removal. I have become needle phobic from numerous Dr visits & surgeries. My problem is I can t force myself to go to Dr s or hospitals as I have been traumatized by horrible nurses & dr s trying to draw blood when my veins don t work, they are super tiny, they roll around & if they do manage to get a needle in with the help of ultra sound, hot packs, etc... it will immediately collapse. Any way, I can t get myself to see a Dr any more. But everything I eat it feels like the food (especially meat) I swallow it goes down & instantly my left side gets a stabbing pain that I double over it goes in to my back & feels like my psyiatic nerve kicks in & someone is stabbing me 2 ribs up on my left & stabbing through my back, like the food is going through a hole in my intestines I don t know if that really happens or if it just feels that way. When this happens I can t even sit up to do anything.. The only position I can be most comfortable is to bring my knees up & reaching my arms out from my sides. If I sit still & make myself relax it goes away but if it happens when I m driving I have to pull over & it seems to get worse in my back making it impossible to drive. Please, this is not a joke & I m not a hypochondriac. My husband keeps trying to get me to go see a Dr but if u seen what they do to me cause they always insist that they won t do anything unless I let them put an I.V. in me when my gull bladder was removed I counted 22 cotton balls taped to my arms. (They finally were able to get one in my neck.) They always act as if I am purposely trying to not get a I.V. also I almost forgot since this started I also have not been able to stop peeing my pants. The second I feel the urge to either urinate or have a bowel movement if I don t instantly find a bathroom a few steps away I have not been able to hold either for more then a couple min. I guess I should tell u that I am a 55 year old women & I haven t had a period in quite a few years. But have horrific hot flashes that feel like I m going to spontaneous combust, I don t know if that s the correct spelling but my husband can tell you that I just radiate heat severely. Again if I lay down & take deep breaths & relax this also goes away. I know that s a lot of info for a Internet Dr. But I just can t go through a clinic or hospItal unless I am unconscious.

My husband fell on his back. He hit the edge of a brick step at his rib cage. He can take a deep breath without pain and so far no bruising, but it is causing him pain to twist slightly. He has been icing it. What else should he do to help alleviate the pain?

I am experiencing severe pain on my left side, middle of my back, by my ribs, and the pain wraps around to the front, underneath my rib cage. It pains to breath in deep, and it pains my stomach when I eat or drink. It also pains me to move or bend on my left side. Is this pleurisy ? It started on 5/7/17
