What Causes Severe Pain In The Ankle And Calf?

Shooting pain up my inner ankle to my calf area. Feels like I rolled my ankle, which I ve done many times over the years. I m a waitress, when I m not on my feet it doesn t bother me but 2 to 3 hours into my shift it feels like I could loose my balance n roll my ankle at any moment!

This may be just an ankle distorsion due to long walking or injury but also it may indicate deep vein thrombosis and it means that clot is formed inside the big leg vessel. This is likely especially if there is associated swelling of the leg, pain in calf and lividity of the skin. Some conditions such as pregnancy, obesity and recent surgery may increase the risk of it.

So you need to do Doppler ultrasound to rule this since this may be serious if blood clot travels to heart and lungs so it should be ruled out as soon as possible and then appropriate treatment can be started.
