What Causes Severe Pain In The Abdomen After Removing A Tampon?

I wear tampons regularly while on my period. I just took a tampon out before peeing, like I normally do. However, after taking it out, I had an extremely sharp pain in my abdomen and a little bit on the left side of my lower back. Nothing was out of the ordinary besides this. Why does it hurt so badly?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The reason why you could have experienced pain might be due to the presence of infection or due to compression of certain nerves.

Kindly get yourself evaluated clinically by means of abdominal and per vaginal examination by consulting Obstetrician. By this, the cause for it can be determined and treated if necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
