What Causes Severe Pain In Shoulders, Arms And Lower Back?

I suffer from chronic pain all over my body it has increased since I moved from Savannah this past June I especially have severe pain in my shoulder arms forearms knees and lower back where I have bulging discs and a pinched nerve and neck were I also bulging discs... I just do not understand the constant increase in pain and pain medication is no help. and I also have bilateral carpatunel.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain in shoulders, arms and lower back . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like muscle spasm , cervical spondylosis, TMJ problem , nerve compression , ear infection or heart problem like angina . For now stay calm , take ibuprofen , apply warm compresses to shoulder and arm , do light stretching exercises under expert or acetaminophen for pain and take proper rest. Doctor may also refer you to dentist for TMJ problem . For now eat light and soft , sleep in correct posture and try to reduce your stress level , as such pain can also occur due to stress, keep yur posture right while working , do stretching exercises for shoulder neck and back under expert .I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination and treatment . Doctor may order CT scan , MRI along with nerve conduction test and physical examination to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant , anti inflammatory , nerve supplement along with physical therapy . In some cases doctor may recommend surgery or acupuncture .
