What Causes Severe Pain In Left Side Of The Rib Cage And Difficulty To Breath?

Last night I had a really bad pain within the left side of my rib cage. It was hard to take deep breaths, but when I put pressure on my rib cage it was easier to take deep breaths. Now it feels like there is almost like a knot you would get in your back between the bottom of the rib cage and my hip. Do you know what s going on?

**

1. If pain is mild and air entry is normal, simply taking an antibiotic with analgesic [which does not depress respiration] and anti inflammatory drug with cough syrup is sufficient, however if pain is not relieved in 4-5 days ask for a chest X-ray.

2. chest strapping can be done with elastoplast.
