What Causes Severe Pain In Inflamed Sinuses And Deviated Septum?

I have chronically inflamed sinuses, a deviated septum, and air pockets and inflammation in my turbinates. I am having surgery in 2 weeks but currently I am in a lot of pain and not allowed to take NSAIDS. Can the hot weather cause an increase in pain? Would it help at all to turn on the air conditioner?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your short history related to the pain in the sinus area, deviated septum and going for surgery after 2 weeks and wants to know how the pain can be controlled till surgery as you have been advised not to use NSAIDs.
Well I can understand the avoidance of NSAIDs but when necessary you need to take symptomatic treatment.
I would advise you to consult your Doctor/ ENT Surgeon again as the pain has to be controlled and discuss abut which additional medication to be taken such as Ibuprofen although it is NSAID, oral and topical steroids, decongestant and so on.
You can also try Tramadol under prescription of your Doctor.
Warm rooms are better for such condition.
Instill decongestant nasal drops followed by plain water steam inhalation and see the results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
