Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain In Fibula Joint And Distal Fibulae?
I step poorly off a ladder on June 17th that ended up with me everting my Left ankle and sent shooting pain up my shin. It then was very painful at the proximal end of where the fibula and tibia meet with bruising. I went to the doctor as it was not getting better and took X-rays to mid thigh from foot. Nothing showed up and all she could deduce was a foot sprain due to tenderness. Now 2 months later I still have occasional instability at the proximal rib/fib joint and my distal fibulae on the posters lateral side is aching consistently for 2 weeks about an 7/10. And it feels as though it needs to crack.
Since you had an X-Ray done & it shows no sign of fracture, you are suffering from an ankle sprain, ligament tear or pinched nerve injury that is causing you discomfort.
You are suggested to see orthopedics. Get physically examined & get a repeat Imaging tests done to detect any pathology.
Stay at rest & get treated at the earliest. Hot -cold compression, elastic bandage are effective. You can take NSAIDs for relief from pain & discomfort.
You may need the help of a Physiotherapist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
