What Causes Severe Pain In Back And Neck After Taking Lipitor?

I had a mild stroke 3 wks ago, was put on lipitor but within 3 days muscle aches and urination problems. Stopped taking it. Urination problem cleared up but still have terrible aching in back and neck will that go away? I stopped taking lipitor on Monday of this week. I was only on it 3 days.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain in back and neck after taking Lipitor. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like cervical spondylosis , cervical radiculopathy , trapezius muscle trigger point or spin injury like compressed fracture . The symptoms can also occur due to side effects of certain medicine as lipitor in your case so consult concerned doctor and discuss the condition . I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to back and neck thrice a day , take proper rest , sleep on hard flat mattress , do not sit or stand in one pose for long times and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . If condition persist then consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may recommend physical therapy , prescribe anti inflammatory or muscle relaxant .
