What Causes Severe Pain During The Intercourse?

I have a simple question, I ve been sexually active since January with my current boyfriend. He was my first, but my hymen did not break, I thought maybe I ve broken it while I exercised, because I practice martial arts and I used tampons; that was my first thought when I didn t bleed after the first time we did it. Months have passed and we re very sexually active and a day after I had finished my period (which I m very regular, every 28-30 days) we had sex, I felt a horrible pain and asked him to stop, I went to the bathroom to check but I didn t have anything there, it would hurt terribly when I walked. I was completely confused, because we didn t do it rough at all, it didn t make any sense. After a few hours, I went to the bathroom and when I checked I had blood stains on my underwear, I didn t know what to think, but then I said to myself maybe I had broken my hymen after all this time, but I wanted to ask if that was possible, because, I ve had sex in these last few months and I ve been perfectly fine. So that s my question, I m completely confused, I have no idea what it could be, but what makes the most logic for me is that I broke my hymen after 5-6 months, is it possible?

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

Pain during intercourse (dyspareunia) is a pain in a woman's labia, vagina, pelvic areas during or after sexual intercourse.

A woman may perceive pain during intercourse even without any physical cause. Sexual pain without an apparent physical cause may have psychological orgins.

The most common cause may be changes in sexual behavior, increase in sexually transmitted diseases and increased willingness to discuss sexual behavior.

The pain can be reduced by following measure
1.Applying lubricating gels to the outer sexual organs
2.Sex toys, such as vibrators or dildos may also be useful.
3.Should talk with her health care provider about the use of vaginal dilator.
Thank you.
