What Causes Severe Pain Around Rib Cage?

I am experiencing severe pain around my upper left rib area. It hurts to laugh and take deep breaths. I also woke up this morning, strangely, with pink eye and did not relate the two until someone mentioned mono? I also have a nurse friend who said it could be my lungs, yet I don t feel sick. I had an X-ray early last week, and they ruled out a broken rib, and now the pain has gotten much worse. Would the X-Ray have shown an infection of some sort? It was taken about a week ago. Thank you, Gina

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, these two conditions are not related with each other "The rib pain and red eye" rib pain could be due to muscular spasm or due to hyperacidity and red eye could allergic condition, this is may not be lung infection because you do not have any associate symptoms that could indicate the infection, hope this information helps, take care.
