What Causes Severe Pain And Tightness In Chest?

Hello, i m an 18 year old girl and the reason i m writing this is because on Monday I started to get really bad chest pain on the left hand side only when I took a deep breath or coughed but it was really painful I ve still got it just not as bad it s like a dull tight feeling when I take a deep breath. I ve recently just got over the flu and started to get rid of my cough I smoke a little as well thank you in advance.

I have gone through your query. It can be due to bronchitis as you smoke. But if pain is superficial and pain while palpation on rib area is positive then it can be due to costochondritis. For such cases i advise anti inflammatory gels like diclofenac with capsaicin and methylsalicylate for local application. Auscultation of lungs and a chest X ray if indicated should be done.
