What Causes Severe Pain And Swollen Vein In Wrist Caused Due To Injury?

Hi i have had a sore wrist for a few weeks, this is on the right wrist below the thumb, today it came up in a lump and noticed there is a vein there that looked bulging, i had carpel tunnel but have had 2 lots of steroid injections and have a white rectangle shape left there just next to the pain but it is not the same feeling as carpel tunnel. I did take an impact to my wrist and it did make a cracking sound but can still use my hand so i do not think its fractured. My wrist just feels tight and has this swollen vein and can only move to a certain limit before severe pain.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe pain and swollen vein in wrist caused due to injury . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like carpal tunnel syndrome , ganglion , trigger finger or thumb , fracture or tendinitis . I would suggest you to apply warm compresses on hand thrice a day , give proper rest to his hand , do gentle massage with almond oil and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain. Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order CT scan or MRI along with physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and recommend physical therapy . Doctor may also refer you general surgeon for surgical correction .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
