Hi dear ,

As per your query you have severe pain and swelling in tragus of ear known otitis externa, where superficial skin of pinna and ear canal gets infected. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like ear infection , change in pressure , earwax buildup , a foreign object in the ear , strep throat and sinus infection . It seems to me that in your case the ear pain and sore throat is due to infection of upper respiratory track infection . This condition when left untreated spread to ear through eustachian tube. You should take ciprofloxaxin 500 mg twice daily with Brufen 400 mg. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may examine by ordering tests like throat swab test , viral culture test and blood test , also doctor will examine with otoscope and order CT scan . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillion ) along with decongestants and anti inflammatory .

Hope your concern has been resolved,

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
