What Causes Severe Pain And Itchiness In The Anus?

My 11 year old son has been complaining of itching/pain on one small spot on the outside of his anus for a few weeks. I don t see any obvious discoloration or irritation but do feel a small hard area just outside his anus and a little toward his scrotum. At first we thought it might be pinworms since the itching was at night but now he says it happens during the day, as well. I treated him with an OTC treatment for pinworms. He complains of it itermittently. I have used cortisone creme and hot compresses to some relief but it still persists. I told him he needs to be diligent about keeping the area clean and changing his underwear daily. Any other suggestions? Thankyou!

Dear mother,
You should go and see a surgeon! There is a condition in medicine called Trichilemmal Cyst (Pilar Cyst) which occurs around puberty and most often in men. Symptoms are hard and painful formation leading to discomfort when having a seat! The only treatment is operation so medications won`t help here ! So my opinion is to go and see a surgeon!
