What Causes Severe Migraine Along With Sharp Neck Pain And Dizziness?

Recently I have been experiencing unusual headaches. One day it started off as a simple headache and out of nowhere it turned into a severe migraine. The pain would shoot from my neck, into the top of my skull and shot a burning pain out my nostrils. I figured it was a migraine and didn t bother to go seek medical help. Just today, I was out grocery shopping and out of nowhere I started having pain shoot up my neck and started feeling a slight headache come on. The pain did not get as intense as it had done before because I took ibuprofen and Zyrtec quickly but im still having neck pain. Along with this I have experienced lerthargy, dizziness and Behavioral problems. I get very edgy out of nowhere. Can anyone explain what they may think is going on with me because the doctors in my town doesn t look to far into things.

Hi,

There can be various reasons for headache and dizziness. It can be due to anemia, vitamin deficiencies or electrolyte imbalance(abnormal salts in the body). Even stress and anxiety can also lead to such symptoms. Besides it can be due to problems related to neck (cervical disc disease), muscle strain, high blood pressure, diseases of ear (inflammation, nerve swelling, benign positional vertigo) or associated with abnormal posture while working or sleeping.

We also need to rule out problems related to heart and lungs (difficulty in breathing, palpitations) or related to brain (swelling or inflammation). I feel that first of all focus on your diet. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Take plenty of water, 2-3 liters per day. Maintain proper posture especially while sleeping or working on computer.Be relaxed.Have a good night sleep. Go out for a walk or light exercise. Regularly monitor your BP.

f still your symptoms persist then go for some investigations like complete blood count, FBS, TSH, X-ray of the neck, ECG and MRI of the brain. This will give you a proper diagnosis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
