What Causes Severe Leg Cramps And Ankle Pain?
Hello Doctor, Over the past 2 to 3 days, I have experienced strong cramps in my feet, ankle area, and my hands. I also have a cold now. Usually, when I have gotten some muscle cramping in my hands or toes, it has usually taken place when I have not slept well. Is there something I can do to help with the pain other than take pain medicine? Thank you, Emily

Hello. Leg cramps may be caused by dehydration, anemia or low calcium - these are the common causes among the myriad other list of causes. You need to check your hemoglobin and iron supplements if found to be low. It is also advisable to take calcium supplements especially in women. Keeping yourself well hydrated may also help.
