What Causes Severe Headaches Along With Dizziness?

My wife has had a headache off an on for weeks. She was admitted into ER three times during the past 48 hrs complaining of severe headache and released. She was given Percocet along with medication to prevent nausea. A CAT scan was done while in ER which showed no pathology. After being released from ER the last time, she had a MIR done a day ago, results not yet in. Her headaches have seem to subside, however, she now complains about dizziness and nausea, even when lying down. When she closes her eyes, she says she seen like red flowing water, occasional bright flashes if light, and spottiness of some sort. Her general health involves type II diabetes, high blood pressure, G I issues, reflex, lactose intolerant, frequent UT infections, and slight high pressure in her eyes. Her blood pressure has been around 160/80 during her recent dizziness and nausea. Takes Carafat regularly, blood pressure meds, insulin, drops in her eyes at night, and Bentle (?) upon occasion. She has a appointment with her primary care physician at Kaiser this coming Monday and should get an update on her MRI. Your opinion and advice or would it be best to get an opinion from a neurologist?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I see you don't like to take pills, but who does? It is important for your health to visit your doctor and to continue depression therapy. What else you can do? Go for a walk, every day, call your friend or relative and have a long walk and after that a long coffee talk. Do your things at home, wash dishes, iron, clean the house, so in the evening you will be so tired and will think only to sleep. Try lots of salads and fruits and be careful on bread and sweets.

All the best!
