What Causes Severe Headache Post Shoulder Surgery?

My daughter had shoulder surgery 6 days ago and now has a bad headache which didn t start until day 2. She says she feels super hot on her head, ears and neck, no one can figure out why but she s miserable! Her shoulder pain is nill but has massive headache, feels like hot flashes she says with a little discomfort also in stomach. Her ears are red on top edges and she can t sleep cause she is up going bathroom constantly? Any ideas what might be causing this? She s off all pain meds as we thought it might be causing this, so it s not the meds.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Headaches are usually common after a surgery due to anesthesia. There is nothing to worry about as it will resolve on its own in few days or may be in few weeks. You can take tab paracetamol for this headache under the supervision of your treating doctor and also review with the treating doctor for the complaint.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
