What Causes Severe Headache And Tingling Sensation In The Hand?

My 19 year old daughter returned today from a long, holiday weekend (4 days) of fun in the sun at the beach house of a friend, complaining that she s had a non-stop headache for 3 days and that the fingers of her left hand have been tingling for 3 days. She had a fever at least one of those days (determined by touch, not thermometer), but does not have one this evening. She ordinarily wears glasses for mild/moderate myopia but wasn t wearing them for the 3 days she was at the beach. Her summer job, which she was last at the day before she left home, involves teaching tennis to children 5 - 10 years old. She is otherwise in good health and very athletic.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe headache and tingling sensation in the hand which seems to be due to inflammation of tonsils , TMJ dysfunction, bruxsim , bell's palsy , migraine or upper respiratory tract infection. Cervical spondylosis can also cause such symptoms. I would suggest you to do throat lozenges , apply warm compresses on face and jaw and do warm saline gargles. You should maintain proper oral hygiene. Relax jaw properly and try to take soft food in diet. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Doctor may refer you to dentist for TMJ problem or neurologist for problem like migraine. Take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl. Drink plenty of fluids and use mouth guard at night while sleeping . Meditation will also help to relax muscles.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
