What Causes Severe Hair Loss In A Teenager?

Hi, I am an 18 year old male, and I have have been losing a lot of hair in the past months and don t know what is causing it. It seems like every time I put my fingers through my hair 3-4 hairs come out. I started counting hairs on my pillow and there is usually 10-20 hairs there. Also, when I wash my hair 20-40 hairs usually fall. I took a picture of my scalp under flash and there was a couple of spots with very little hair, I have curly hair so I don t know if it was always this way.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Common causes of hair fall include androgenic androgenic alopecia, fungal infection, nutritional deficiency, alopecia areata, and cancer chemo/radiotherapy.
Advice
1.     Tugain (minoxidil) 5% gel – apply locally in scalp 1 mL twice daily for 4 months
2.     Capsule Adgain – one capsule daily orally for 2 months
3.     High protein and vitamin rich diet such as eggs, meat, vegetables, cheese etc.
4.     Do not take much tension as anxiety/depression aggravates hair loss
I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question
Thanks
