What Causes Severe Edema Of Legs And Bloated Abdomen At The Age Of 50?

I am 50years old and have severe edema of the legs and bloated stomach. It has been a year and I have seen all the specialists and no one has yet been able to diagnose where the water is coming from. It is 80 lbs of water - I used to weigh 180 and now I am 245 lbs. This happened all in a span of 2 weeks last year.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello..As per your narration you are having pedal edema along with moderate ascites. There can be various causes for it, Chiefly being cardigenic, liver parenchymal disease (especially cirrhosis) and kidney disorders. I suggest you please undergo ultrasound of whole abdomen and pelvis and echocardiography for heart. Yo can also go for the ascitic fluid examination from your abdomen which will confirm the nature of fluid and help to reach the diagnosis.
