What Causes Severe Diarrhea After Taking Macrobid?

Hello, I ve had bad diarrhea for about 5 days now. It is finally getting to where it s semi firm, but still not normal yet and I m not going as frequently. (I had a kidney infection and was prescribed macrobid and on the 5th day of antibiotic is when diarrhea began. Not sure if it s linked or not or if I just ate something bad). I was going to start on probiotics today but was wondering if taking Imodium with it would be a bad idea... I am honestly feeling so tired of having to run to the bathroom but also don t want to prolong my issue by taking Imodium. Please help!!!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

After 5 days, you can consider trying the imodium if it does not continue to improve in the next few hours.
You noted some changes with a decrease in stool frequency and increasing firmness, this would likely continue.

In most cases, once these changes are seen, it continues in this direction.

I hope this helps
