What Causes Severe Cough, headache And A Lump On The Jaw?
My daughter is a university student and had a headache for a few days last week she now is tired , pale and has a night cough with yellow phlegm and today a slightly swollen side of her face and jaw with a little lump at her jaw line? No increase in temperature but loss of appetite
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe cough, headache and a lump on the jaw which is due to sinus infection which is leading to upper respiratory tract infection.
The lump on the jaw is indication of SIALOLITHIASIS that is formation of crystalline stones in the duct of the submandibular salivary gland which is located on the jaw line or it could be osteoma .
I would suggest you to take cough expectorants along with warm saline rinses. You should avoid intake of cold, carbonated beverages and spicy sharp substances.
Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and get X-ray chest done and start treatment accordingly. You should take augmentin antibiotic along with flonase steroidal spray and Fiorcet for headache.
Take proper rest. Take steam inhalation as well.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
