What Causes Severe Bruising On The Arm?

Hi I have bruising that keeps appearing on my upper right bicept towards the inside of my arm. The bruise is about the size of a nickel or slightly bigger and doesn t hurt but it is dark. I have not been hurt or jabbed by anything. I am 55 years old and play recreational tennis 3 times a week. I have been experiencing the bruising on and off for about 4 months. I am having some soreness in my shoulder and in my shoulder blade and suspect i may have a small/slight torn rotator cuff. I have not seen a doctor and don t really know what kind of doctor I should first go to. Could the bruising be the sign of something ruptured internally that I should get checked out? Please advise

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to minor trauma that went unnoticed.

As of now, no definitive treatment is required.

You can apply ice packs for symptomatic relief.

Generally, it will settle in a couple of days, if persists better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
