What causes severe bloating and pain in the lower abdomen?

For the past seven weeks.I have been suffering from extreme upper bloating and occasional lower abdominal pain. I had a CT scan in the ER three weeks ago, which showed Pleurisy and diverticulitis. Took anibiotics for 10 days, lungs cleared up but still have bloating/gas. Have seen two gastro doctors, had blood, urine, Gastric Emptying and Upper GI series tests. All normal. Second doctor put me on Hyoscyamine. Taking for three days, hasn t helped at all. Going for another CT scan tomorrow. Can the diverticulitis be causing upper stomach bloating, or are the doctors right in diagnosing IBS? Then which drug might help? This is really difficult to deal with. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In the case of persistent ongoing pain, I recommend patient to get hospitalized for the primary care with
- intravenous fluids
- intravenous proton pump inhibitors as omeprazole or pantoprazole
- It is the better covering of pain with analgesic as tramadol hydrochloride or else as per the physician choice.

X-ray of the abdomen & standing would be of immense help to follow up of the progress of any intestine motility-related issue as developing obstruction or else.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

There is too much to say, however, had urinalysis done on Monday. Having severe bloating, pressure, frequent urination, weakness. It is not wed and I am now having pain in m back as well and the doc did NOT give me an antibiotic when I went in. I did follow up with gyn had pelvic and vaginal ultrasounds today. I feel worse each day, and called for urinalysis report. They said it was not back yet this morning. I called back later to let them know I did not feel well and that pain was in lower back. They said a partial report came back, but the culture was not back yet. So I asked what a partial report meant? She said it came back suspicious . I asked what that meant and she didn t really say...sort of muttered...blood, abnormal or atypical cells (not sure which it was) and a few other things were see. However, without the culture, he was getting me started on medication to ease the symptoms. I assumed that it was an antibiotic, especially with the back pain. So now I pick it up and it is something called hyoscyamine. I looked it up and NOT an antibiotic and I am NOt taking it. What does suspicious mean in urinalysis, and why no antibiotic? and is it normal for it to take more than 48 hrs for culture?
