What Causes Severe Anxiety Along With Nausea And Hand Tremors?

I fully retired from my job a year ago. It was more stressful than I expected. A couple of months later I had what may have been a TIA ab t a year ago...Then, in Dec. of 15, when my wife, also may have had one, I found myself experiencing more anxiety...I am almost 75, she 70. For several months I have had extreme nausea and tremors of the hands shortly after waking. My wife suggested that I cut out the coffee and several sugar snacks per day. I ve done that. I take oxycodone for back pain, a breakthrough pain patch, cholesterol med, BP med., med for prostrate problem, have had 7 bouts w/kidney stones, 2 had to be surgically removed. I have seen my primary care Dr. , a newly assigned one, by Humana. She quickly diagnosed my problem as acute anxiety., prescribed anti-anxiety med...was MORE nauseous...called back...they called in another Rx, was even more nauseus and beginning to get depressed. My wife was concerned and researched the meds, BOTH were for anxiety! We made an appointment w/the Dr. explaining the mistake ... She said I should have known the 2nd was also for anxiety and to not take the 1st one??? So, she hadn t given me anything for the nausea. She was about to release me when my wife intervened and asked her why she hadn t asked me about my history. She mentioned the kidney stones, some of these symptoms being familiar. The Dr. did, then, check my urine...found lg. amount of blood...was never explained why. My wife also mentioned that IF she d checked my history would have seen that my 3 siblings all died of cancer...and, she did not want her to just dismiss the matter. The female Dr. was not too happy with my wife intervening, but, said she would order a throat/stomach scope. Nothing was found. So she dismissed me and suggested that I see a neurologist. I m guessing that she is thinking that is is psychological. All of that to say, are there any particular questions that I should ask him or information that I should share. I did not eat for 1 1/2 weeks, then my wife insisted that I try a soft diet & soups even if I could not hold them down. Even with the nausea, I did not vomit..and, I began to regain strength. But, 2 months still am experiencing the severe nausea and hand tremors about an hour after waking. My father had Parkinson s when he was in his late 50-early 60 s. died of his 3rd heart attack at 62. Could these be symptoms?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe anxiety along with nausea and hand tremors . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like low blood sugar , too much coffee and tea or essential tremor. The head ache and leg pain can also occur due to viral infection or arthritis or iron deficiency . Performing the same task in the same position will repeatedly trigger the tremor/dystonia after a certain amount of time, but performing the same task in a slightly different position would not. The symptoms can also be first sign of Parkinson’s disease or psychogenic tremor . I would suggest you to consult neurologist as well as psychiatrist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe atenolol , gabapentin , clonazepam or botox injections . In some cases doctor may recommend physical therapy or surgery . Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic surgeon for muscle and bone problem. Doctor may recommend physical therapy or stretching exercises .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
