What Causes Severe Abdominal Pain And Numbness In The Fingers?

hello, i am wanting to ask ab few questions about whats going on with me today. i have been having some severe pain in my abdomen and have been to the er twice re this. they took blood and did a ct. the ct was positive for what they called a cyst on my kidney or a renal lesion on my kidney. they followed it up with an ultrasound and to was positive for a lesion on my kidney. it was then followed up again with another ct with contrast in which he radioligist results came back stating that i should have n mri of which i am scheduled for but not until Friday te 4th of August. however things changed this morning when i woke up. i noticed that my right leg from my hip to my ankle was swollen whereas the left leg was not. i have been experiencing pain i my right hip joint as well as have a hard mass located under my gluteus maximus on my right buttocks. i have never experienced where one leg is swollen and the other not. i also last night and today have had numbness and tingling in my fingers first my right and then my left. i basically hurt and ache all over. i have noticed a severe headache or pain in the right side of my head earlier today. i feel nausea and am dizzy. i have chills and atyhe same time feel like i am beginning o run a very low grade fever. i have nticed a few knots or lumps in my legs but the strange thing is that it is in both my right and left leg. im very concerned about what i should do at this point. also if i go to the er if they are going to actually hep me or just send me away again. angela

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Well, there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in queries like a sign of nerve damage, repetitive stress, injuries, bacterial or viral infections, toxic exposures, and systemic diseases such as diabetes and peripheral neuropathy. There can be other reasons also like nerve entrapment, carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve palsy, hormonal imbalances and vitamin deficiencies (vitamin B1). I would suggest you consult an orthopedic surgeon for proper examination. The doctor may order a CT scan, ask for certain movements and complete blood tests. The doctor may prescribe muscle relaxants, recommend physical therapy of arm and hand along with stretching exercises and recommend particular stretching exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
