What Causes Severe Abdominal And Hip Pain Along With Headaches?

I have been diagnosed with GERD, IBS recently and legg calve perthesis disease when I was younger. Lately I have been dealing with stomach issues and have been noticing other things that are starting to concern me because they are getting worse. I have been forgetting a lot of things that I shouldn t be, getting more pain in both my stomach, hip, and headaches. I have a history of migraines but have had CT scans on my head and they never saw anything unusual. I just had an upperoscopy and a colonoscopy and they didn t see anything but the GERD and IBS. Along with my headaches I have been losing hair and my weight is going up and down. I am a 19 year old girl and I feel like constant headaches, stomach pain, hip pain, hair loss, weight fluctuation, lower back pain, loss of appetite, abdominal cramps, fatigue, and side pain isn t normal. This is all starting to take a toll on me emotionally and I can t handle the constant pain anymore. Help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Most of your symptoms are related to the IBS and GERD, and not to forget that headaches can occur due to GERD as well especially because of the increased acid reflux; but taking into consideration your conditions and the impact they can have on your hormones, I also suspect a hormonal cause to be the reason for the headaches.

If you do have an irregularity in your menstrual cycle or in the pattern or flow of your period, then it would be best to get a female hormone panel conducted and rule out/confirm a hormonal cause. Once that is done, we can narrow down to the cause and help you get rid of the headaches.

Best wishes.
